My name is Yanauth Ramnarase, and I am proud to call Bank Essequibo, specifically the vibrant community of 1938 Block 8 New, my home. As a farmer, I deeply appreciate the rich agricultural heritage of Guyana, where the land yields an abundance of fruits and vegetables, such as cassava, plantains, and the famous Guyanese pepperpot. I often find myself tending to my crops alongside my neighbors, sharing stories of our lives and the ever-changing landscape of our beloved Pomeroon-Supenaam region.
Growing up near the Pomeroon River, I have always been captivated by the beauty of our waterways and the resilience of our people. From the hustle and bustle of Ekron to the serene banks of the River Grant, each settlement has its own unique charm and history. I take pride in being part of a community that embraces its roots, whether it’s through the flavors of our local cuisine or the warmth of our cultural gatherings, where we celebrate our heritage and the bonds that unite us, even across the diaspora.
As I work the land, I am reminded of the stories shared by family and friends, both here and abroad.
