Greetings! I’m Yawa Baldeo, your friendly boat captain navigating the beautiful Essequibo Coast. Based in Spring, Pomeroon-Supenaam, I have the privilege of working in a region rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rivers and the vibrant communities that call Guyana home. Whether it’s ferrying folks to local festivals or showcasing the stunning vistas of the Cuyuni River, I take pride in connecting people to the heart of our land.
As a second-generation Guyanese-American, I find joy in sharing our culinary delights, like doubles—a delicious chickpea stew served with tangy chutney and fried bread. It’s these flavors and experiences that remind me of our roots and unite our diaspora. I’ve often had to explain to friends abroad that yes, we do have a government, and yes, our culture is just as rich and varied as any other nation in South America and the Caribbean!

Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
