Nestled in the picturesque Essequibo Islands-West Demerara region, my community is a true reflection of the rich cultural heritage that Guyana is known for. From the lush greenery of our landscapes to the flavorful dishes like curry, pepperpot, and roti that fill our homes, every aspect of life here celebrates our diverse roots. The sweet sound of the kora often fills the air, reminding us of our African and Indian influences, and it’s not uncommon to hear friendly banter about our neighbors in Suriname, as the connection between our cultures runs deep.
