Hello! I’m Youmattie Gurdyal, a proud housewife living on Coast 1-2 School Street in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. My life revolves around my family and the rich cultural heritage that Guyana has to offer. From the vibrant markets filled with fresh fruits like golden apples and sour sop to the riverbanks where we gather for family picnics, every day is a celebration of our traditions and community.
Growing up near the Pomeroon River, I've always had a special connection to our lush landscapes and waterways. Whether it’s taking a leisurely boat ride down to the iconic Cocorite Landing or enjoying a hearty plate of pepperpot during Christmas, my roots run deep in this beautiful land. I cherish the stories shared among neighbors, especially those about the time-honored methods of fishing and farming that have been passed down through generations.
Though I may not have traveled to all 13 South American countries yet, my heart is always with my fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora. I love connecting with those who share our experiences, whether it’s reminiscing about the scents of cooking curry or the sound of reggae music filling the air. Together, we keep our culture alive, bridging distances with the stories of Pomeroon and beyond.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
