Greetings! My name is Yulan Abrams, and I proudly call Essequibo Hossana Village in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a dedicated labourer, I’ve spent my life immersed in the rich soil of our land, contributing to the vibrant agricultural tapestry that sustains our community. The sweet aroma of fresh cassava and the vibrant colour of ripe mangoes are staples of my daily life, reminding me of the warmth and resilience of our culture. Whether it’s gathering with family for a Sunday meal or enjoying a cool drink by the river, I cherish these moments that connect us to our roots.
Living in Essequibo, I have a front-row seat to the natural beauty of Guyana, from the majestic rivers to the lush greenery that surrounds us. Each day is a new adventure, whether it is visiting the iconic Portion Manawarin Princess Garden or taking in the serene views along the River Evenuri. As our diaspora community grows, I feel a strong connection to those who have ventured beyond our shores, sharing our stories and celebrating our heritage.
