Hello! My name is Yulanda Emanuel, and I proudly call Bank Essequibo Stelling Road Tushen, in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. Nestled near the lush Essequibo River, my community embodies the essence of Guyanese life, where the vibrant rhythms of local culture resonate through every gathering. From savoring a plate of pepperpot to enjoying a festive mash-up of chutney and calypso during our annual Phagwah celebrations, I cherish the traditions that connect us to our rich heritage.
While some may debate our Caribbean identity, I believe that being Guyanese means embracing our unique blend of influences from indigenous, African, Indian, and European cultures. Whether it's the excitement of Carnival or the tranquility found in our dense rainforests, each experience adds to the vibrancy of life here. I have a deep love for my homeland and frequently engage with the diaspora, sharing stories that bridge the gap between us and honoring those who have ventured abroad while still holding tight to their roots.
As I continue to cultivate my passion for community and culture, I look forward to welcoming others to explore the beauty of Guyana. With its stunning landscapes, such as the majestic Kaieteur Falls and the serene beaches of Bartica, there’s so much more to discover beyond the oil conversations. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
