Hello! I’m Yuneeta Mohanlall, a proud resident of Pump Station Street Airy in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled along the Southern Bank of the Pomeroon River, my home is a stone’s throw away from the vibrant landscapes that define our culture. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and rich waters of this area has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and strong community ties that characterize Guyanese life.
As a lover of our local cuisine, I often find joy in preparing traditional dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice, which are staples at family gatherings. Food brings us together, whether it’s a Sunday lunch or a festive celebration. I also cherish the vibrant sounds of chutney music that resonate through our villages, reminding us of our diverse heritage and the joy of our cultural expressions. With each gathering, whether it’s in the heart of our communities or among the diaspora, I feel a profound connection to my roots.
