Hello and welcome! My name is Zita Abrams, a proud resident of Demerara, where I call L'Oratorie Canal No. 1 home. Growing up in this vibrant region of the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture, from the rhythmic beats of chutney music to the mouthwatering flavors of our local delicacies, like pepper pot and roti. Though some may have had mixed experiences with certain dishes, like the infamous peeper pod, the culinary diversity in Guyana is something to celebrate!
I find joy in connecting with the Guyanese diaspora, as it highlights our shared heritage and experiences. Whether it's reminiscing about the lush beauty of places like Karawab Bay or the bustling life along the Pomeroon River, I take pride in our stories and the warmth our community exudes, even from afar.
