Hello! My name is Zorena La Crusez, and I proudly call East Bank Essequibo my home. As a vendor, I immerse myself in the vibrant culture of Guyana every day, sharing the flavors of our beloved cuisine with locals and visitors alike. From the sweet aroma of pepperpot wafting through the air to the rich taste of a fresh cassava pone, my goal is to bring a piece of Guyana to every table. Whenever I can, I showcase the unique ingredients that make our dishes special, reminding everyone that even in a world of globalization, our traditional foods hold their own.
Living in this beautiful part of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I often reflect on our connection to the land, our rivers, and the rich wildlife that surround us. The Pomeroon River flows through my life, just as it flows through our community. It’s a reminder of our duty to respect nature and the traditions of our Indigenous peoples, who have safeguarded this land for generations. Like many Guyanese, I carry a piece of my heart in the diaspora; every day, I strive to bridge the gap between home and those far away, sharing our stories and culture with the world.
