Hello! My name is Abdool Sattaur, and I proudly call Hall Essequibo Coast my home. As a labourer, I have developed a deep appreciation for the hard work that sustains our communities and keeps our heritage alive. Growing up amidst the rich landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I have witnessed the vibrant cultures that coexist here—cultures woven together by the flavors of our traditional foods, from the spicy pepperpot to the sweet cassava pone, and the shared stories that enrich our lives.
Throughout my journey, I carry with me the motto of our beloved Guyana: “One People, One Nation, One Destiny.” This ethos resonates deeply as I reflect on our history and the challenges we face today. The past has shown us the importance of unity, especially when external forces threaten to divide us. I believe that as Guyanese, we must continue to celebrate our diversity and foster mutual respect among all communities, ensuring that we remain a strong, resilient nation.
As we look toward the future, particularly with the recent developments in our oil industry, I am hopeful yet cautious. It is essential that we learn from our history to create a prosperous and peaceful Guyana for generations to come.
