Greetings from the Essequibo Seadam Parika East! My name is Doobay, and I am proud to be a Guyanese labourer. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always felt a deep connection to our vibrant Caribbean culture, even though we may not be surrounded by the Caribbean Sea. We’re the largest country in the Caribbean, and every celebration of our diversity, from Mashramani to Diwali, reminds me of the beautiful blend of cultures that define us.
In my spare time, I love indulging in our local cuisine, whether it's a hearty plate of pepperpot or a sweet treat of black cake. The flavors of Guyana are a true reflection of our heritage, and I take pride in sharing our traditional dishes with friends and family, even those far away in the diaspora. Little do they know, each bite carries the warmth of our land and the spirit of togetherness that we cherish.
Despite the challenges my homeland faces, including the realities of tourism and infrastructure, I hold a deep appreciation for our natural beauty and resilience. From the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon to the bustling streets of Georgetown, every corner of Guyana tells a story.
