Hello! I’m Persaud Doobay, a proud farmer from Essequibo, specifically Naamryck on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich agricultural heritage. There’s nothing quite like the taste of freshly harvested produce, and I love sharing that bounty with my community and beyond. Whether it’s a hearty plate of rice and curry accompanied by puri or a sweet treat made from our local fruits, I believe food is a way to connect with our roots.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the vibrant culture we have, from our lively festivals to the breathtaking beauty of our natural landmarks like the Kaieteur Falls. Even though I spend my days working the land, I always make time to reflect on the memories of my childhood. I fondly remember gathering with family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and of course, the delicious meals that unite us. Each dish tells a story, and every gathering strengthens our bonds, no matter where we are in the world.
