Hello! My name is Persaud Doobay, and I'm a proud barber hailing from the picturesque Essequibo region, specifically Naamryck on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant rivers of Guyana, I carry a piece of my homeland with me in everything I do. There’s nothing quite like the aroma of fresh-cooked pepperpot or the sweetness of a ripe mango from our local markets to remind me of home.
As a barber, I believe in more than just giving a great haircut; it’s about creating a welcoming space where stories are shared, laughter abounds, and the essence of our rich Guyanese culture lives on. Whether it's reminiscing about the "River Gt fear not" spirit or discussing the diverse heritage of Guyanese Chinese since 1834, my chair is a hub for connections—both near and far. I cherish the moments with my clients, many of whom share their own tales of growing up in our beloved country or navigating life in the diaspora.
Though I may be rooted in the heart of Essequibo, my heart travels with the stories of those I meet, especially my fellow Guyanese scattered around the world.
