Hello! I'm Abiola Griffith, a proud Guyanese currently residing near Bank Demerara in Phase 1 Recht. As a clerk by profession, my days are filled with organization and attention to detail, but when Iām not at work, I find joy in connecting with my vibrant heritage. Guyana, often referred to as the least known English-speaking country in the world, is rich in culture and diversity, and I carry that pride with me wherever I go.
One of my fondest memories is celebrating Mashramani, our exuberant festival that marks Guyana's Republic Day. The colorful parades, the rhythm of the tassa drums, and the delicious local food like pepperpot and cook-up rice always bring back a sense of belonging. Whether it's a gathering with family enjoying a plate of metemgee or sharing stories of our beautiful landmarks like the Kaieteur Falls and the Demerara River, these experiences are what keep my connection to home alive, even from afar.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the friendships formed with fellow countrymen and women, both locally and abroad. Their stories remind me of the warmth and resilience of our people.
