Hello! My name is Adriana Karoo, and I hail from the vibrant community of Essequibo, specifically from the charming First Street Block AA in Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a laborer, I take pride in contributing to my community and supporting local initiatives that uplift those around me. My roots run deep in Guyana, where the rich blend of cultures—from our Indigenous heritage to the influences brought by my East Indian ancestry—shapes who I am daily. In my spare time, I enjoy connecting with our diaspora, especially those who share a love for our homeland. I cherish the camaraderie found in conversations about our unique dialects, traditions, and the landscapes that define Guyana, like the stunning Canals of Lower Pomeroon and the Hackney Canal. For many of us, English serves as a bridge to the world, allowing us to communicate our rich Guyanese culture while also embracing the global influences that shape our lives. I find joy in sharing our stories, whether through a chat over some delicious cook-up rice or discussing the latest news from our beautiful country.
Though I may currently reside in Essequibo, my heart is ever connected to the wider Guyanese community, near and far. I dream of visiting our diaspora in places like Canada and the UK, where I see so many expressing their love for our culture.
