Greetings! My name is Aftabadeen Afroze, a dedicated teacher nestled in the lush landscape of Demerara, specifically along the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam Public Road. I am passionate about nurturing young minds and instilling in them the rich cultural heritage that our beautiful Guyana offers. From the sweet taste of a ripe ginip to the nostalgic memories of salt fish and bake, I strive to incorporate local cuisine and traditions into my teaching, making learning a delightful experience.
Growing up in Guyana, I have always been surrounded by a sense of community that extends beyond our borders. I cherish the stories of my family who live in the various villages along the west side, and I find joy in connecting with the diaspora. It's a reminder that our roots run deep and that even those who have ventured far still hold dear the experiences that shape us—whether it's gathering around the kitchen for a meal that's clean and delicious or sharing laughter over a bottle of El Dorado rum (just don’t pour it over ice!).
As I continue my journey in education, I hope to inspire my students to appreciate our homeland's beauty and its remarkable people. Whether it’s discussing the wonders of the Cuyuni River or cooking up traditional recipes, I believe that by embracing our culture, we can foster a sense of pride and identity that resonates within all of us.
