Hello! I’m Akeem Trotman, a dedicated labourer proudly rooted in the lush landscapes of Bank Essequibo, specifically in Phase 2 New Housing, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture of Guyana, I’ve always cherished our local traditions, from the tantalizing aroma of pepperpot cooking during family gatherings to the lively sounds of tassa music that fill the air during celebrations. My work allows me to contribute to the development of my community, and I take great pride in seeing our neighborhoods thrive.
The rich history of the Pomeroon River is a constant reminder of our resilience and unity as a people. Whether it's fishing with friends or enjoying the serene beauty of our rivers, the connection to nature is vital to our way of life. I often reminisce about the stories my elders shared about the Kairimap Creek and other local landmarks, which deepen my appreciation for our heritage and inspire me to share these experiences with younger generations.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the importance of staying connected with those who have ventured far and wide. I find joy in hearing stories from fellow Guyanese abroad, whether they’re reminiscing about the sweet taste of cassava pone or the laughter shared at family gatherings.
