Greetings! My name is Akteley Duncan, and I proudly call the beautiful region of Pomeroon in the Pomeroon-Supenaam area my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant rivers of Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. From the rhythmic beats of our folklore to the tantalizing flavors of pepperpot and cook-up rice, my life is a celebration of Guyanese culture. I believe that sharing our culinary delights and traditions helps us stay connected, especially in the diaspora where so many of us are making strides.
As a resident of Pomeroon, I find joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it’s fishing on the riverbanks, gathering with family during Mashramani celebrations, or enjoying a Saturday afternoon at the local market. Community is at the heart of our way of life, and I cherish the connections we maintain with our friends and family both here and abroad. It’s heartwarming to witness Guyanese people thriving internationally, as mentioned by many in our diaspora, and it inspires me to contribute positively to our community.
