Hello! My name is Alec Jack, and I’m proud to call Lower Pom River Grant Lesperance my home. As a teacher, I am passionate about nurturing the minds of our young people here in Pomeroon-Supenaam, helping them grasp the beauty and complexity of our world. Every day, I strive to instill a love of learning that reflects the vibrant spirit of our Guyanese culture.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve been fortunate to experience our rich culinary landscape, from the hearty pepperpot to the fragrant roti influenced by our diverse heritage of Indigenous, African, East Indian, and British roots. The local market in my area is a treasure trove of fresh produce and a lively gathering place where the community comes together, reminiscent of the warmth and camaraderie we Guyanese cherish. I often find joy in sharing these culinary experiences with my students and encouraging them to appreciate our unique culture.
As I engage with the vibrant Guyanese diaspora, I feel a deep connection that transcends geographical boundaries. We share stories, laughter, and the occasional friendly banter, just like in our beloved local gatherings. Whether it's reminiscing about the stunning Pomeroon River or the lively atmosphere of our markets, I take pride in representing Guyana and fostering a sense of belonging among our youth, both at home and abroad.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
