Hello! My name is Alexa James, and I proudly call Pomeroon in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Nestled along the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, my community embodies the rich diversity that defines our nation. Growing up amidst the vibrant cultures of Indo-Guyanese, Afro-Guyanese, and Indigenous peoples, I've always celebrated the unique blend of traditions that make our festivals—like Phagwah and Mashramani—so special. There’s something truly heartwarming about how we come together to share rich meals, whether it's a plate of pepperpot or a sweet guyanese cook-up rice.
Living in Guyana offers a chance to immerse oneself in nature’s beauty. The lush landscapes, from the waterway canals to the stunning rainforest, reflect the spirit of our people. As a resident, I enjoy exploring our local landmarks, such as the historic Fort Zeelandia and the stunning shell beaches along the coast. I also hold dear the connection I share with the Guyanese diaspora, who carry our culture in their hearts, no matter where they are in the world. I often find camaraderie in the stories shared about our homeland, which reminds me of the strength and resilience that define us.

Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
