Greetings! My name is Alexi Chung, and I am proud to call Essequibo my home. Nestled in the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I have dedicated my life to farming, nurturing the fertile soil that has sustained generations of my family. The vibrant green fields and the sweet aroma of ripe mangoes and cassava remind me daily of the beauty and abundance that Guyana offers. There’s nothing quite like sharing a meal of pepperpot and rice with family and friends, celebrating our rich heritage and the diverse cultures that make up our community.
Growing up near the breathtaking Rapapuni area, I often find myself reflecting on the resilience and warmth of our people, whether they are here in Guyana or part of the diaspora around the world. Besides my love for farming, I enjoy connecting with others who share a passion for our homeland—whether it’s discussing cricket or reminiscing about our unique dialects that sometimes leave outsiders puzzled! The spirit of camaraderie remains strong, especially among those who, like me, have ties to the larger Guyanese community.
