Hello! I’m Alexis Thomas, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, specifically in Richmond Housing, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush beauty of our land has deeply shaped my identity. Whether it's the vibrant markets filled with fresh, local produce or the sweet aroma of pepperpot wafting through the air during festive occasions, my passion for Guyanese culture runs deep. I believe that our diverse heritage, from the Amerindian roots to our rich Indian, African, and Portuguese influences, makes Guyana a unique gem in the heart of South America.
I'm also passionate about connecting with the diaspora community. Like many of us, I enjoy hearing stories from Guyanese abroad, whether it's through discussions about the Tigri New River Triangle or reminiscing about our childhoods spent on the banks of the Pomeroon River. The warmth of our people, even from afar, is a reminder of home. I often reflect on how, despite the distance, the love for our homeland remains strong, especially when we share a plate of cook-up rice or reminisce about Georgetown’s bustling streets.
