Hello! I’m Kabias Allen, a proud resident of Waikrebi in the Barima-Waini region of beautiful Guyana. Known for its lush rainforests and vibrant rivers, my home is a place where the spirit of our indigenous culture thrives. I enjoy sharing the rich flavors of our local cuisine, from the sweetness of a freshly made cassava pone to the unique taste of pepperpot during special gatherings. The warmth of our community is palpable, as we often come together to celebrate traditional events and honor our elders, like my beloved aunty D, who left us in Toronto in 2021.
As someone deeply connected to our land, I often find inspiration in the stories that echo along the Pomeroon River and in the vibrant streets of lower Monkers. While living here, I've witnessed the transformations that come with our newfound oil wealth; a topic that offers both hope and concern for our future.
