Hello! My name is Allisa Cozier, and I am proud to call Pomeroon, located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. Growing up here has deeply rooted me in the vibrant culture and rich traditions that define our nation. From the lush landscapes along the Pomeroon River to the warmth of our communities, I find that every corner of this beautiful country tells a unique story, whether it's the aroma of fresh cook-up rice wafting through the air or the lively gatherings at our local markets.
As a resident of Pomeroon, I appreciate the simple joys of life, like sharing a hearty meal of cassava bread and pepperpot with family and friends. I often reflect on how our culinary traditions, influenced by Indigenous, African, and Indian heritage, create a flavor profile that is unmistakably Guyanese. Iām fascinated by the culinary connections within the Caribbean, especially with our Trinidadian neighbors, and love engaging in discussions about food and culture with the diaspora. For me, these connections help bridge the gap between home and abroad, keeping our heritage alive regardless of where we are.
In addition to my love for our cuisine and culture, I am also committed to showcasing the beauty of Guyana to the world. Our country is often overlooked, and I believe it has so much to offer, from the majestic Kaieteur Falls to the rich biodiversity of our rainforests. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
