Hello! I’m Allison Allicock, an Assistant Pharmacist rooted in the vibrant community of Bank Essequibo, Phase 2 South. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich cultural heritage that makes our country unique—from the delicious flavors of egg ball and stew to the serene beauty of the Pomeroon River. Our traditional foods tell stories of our diverse backgrounds, and I take pride in sharing these experiences, whether it’s through a plate of cook-up rice or a heartfelt conversation about our history.
As someone who has witnessed the challenges and triumphs of living in a developing country, I value the connections we form both locally and globally. Guyana’s cultural identity is multi-faceted; it’s a blend of our Indigenous roots, African heritage, and colonial past. This mix gives us a unique perspective, and I cherish every moment spent with friends and family, discussing everything from the lack of sidewalks in our neighborhoods to the exciting growth opportunities emerging in our nation.
Having spent some time in the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the importance of our stories and experiences in shaping who we are. Whether it’s reminiscing about our shared memories or looking forward to what the future holds, I remain committed to my community and the values that bind us together.
