Hello! Iām Alvin Charran, a proud fisherman based in the heart of Bank Essequibo, nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and flowing rivers of Guyana, I developed a deep appreciation for our natural resources and the bounties they provide. Whether it's setting my nets at dawn or sharing stories with fellow fishermen at the market, I find joy in the rhythm of life here. You can often find me enjoying a plate of duck curry or fresh catch, and nothing beats a good chat over a bowl of pepperpot!
My adventures aren't limited to the waters of Guyana. I cherish the ties I have with the Guyanese diaspora, especially those who reminisce about home while living abroad. It's heartwarming to hear comments from friends who plan Caribbean food tours in NYC, or those who marvel at our beautiful Kaieteur Falls and the Essequibo River islands. I often think about how we can better showcase our rich heritage and culture, from improving Georgetown for tourism to celebrating our unique Guyanese cuisine and traditions.
