Hello! My name is Alvin Richards, and I am proud to call Pom River Myrie Island in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. As a miner, I work hard to support my family and the local community, and I cherish the vibrant spirit of our people. Growing up in Guyana, I have been deeply influenced by our rich cultural heritage, from the lively festivals to the mouthwatering dishes like pepperpot and roti that bring us together. The warmth of our communities is something I carry with me, especially when connecting with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora who share a love for our homeland.

Just like many of you, I have watched videos and heard tales of our beautiful landscapes, including the stunning Kaieteur Falls and the lush rainforests that define our country. I often find myself chuckling at the different pronunciations of our local names, and I appreciate the sense of humor that comes with our diverse backgrounds. It reminds me that no matter where we are in the world, we carry a piece of Guyana with us and are always connected by our shared experiences.
As I navigate through life here, I remain hopeful for the future of Guyana and the opportunities that lie ahead for our people. The challenges we face, from economic disparities to political struggles, are real, but they don't define us.
