Hello! I’m Amanda Nandlall-Hold, and I proudly call West Coast Demerara my home. Born and raised in the vibrant community of 98 Prem Nagar in Pomeroon-Supenaam, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich culture and traditions that make Guyana unique. From the aroma of fresh cook-up rice wafting through my neighborhood on Sundays to the sounds of soca and chutney music lifting spirits during festivals, my life is deeply intertwined with the rhythms and flavors of my homeland.
As a labourer, I appreciate the hard work that goes into our daily lives, whether it's cultivating the land or supporting the local economy. I enjoy sharing stories with my neighbors and exploring our beautiful landscapes, from the lush rainforests to the serene rivers. For me, there's nothing quite like a day spent at the Essequibo River, enjoying some grilled fish and fried plantains with family and friends. These moments remind me of the warmth and resilience of our people.
Although I may be rooted in Guyana, I cherish my connections with the diaspora community around the world. We share a bond through our stories and experiences, whether it's reminiscing about the spicy pepperpot at Christmas or the thrill of Carnival. As we navigate life both at home and abroad, it's the shared memories that unite us, and I take pride in representing the essence of Guyana wherever I go.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
