Hello! My name is Amber Jacobus, and I am a registered nurse currently living in Mission, located in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana, I've always been proud of my roots, from the lush landscapes along the Pomeroon River to the vibrant communities that make our country so unique. Whether it’s enjoying a hearty meal of pepperpot or sharing stories of our beautiful rivers, my heart is always tied to the rich culture that shapes who I am.
In my professional life, I strive to embody the spirit of care that is so deeply ingrained in our culture. I believe that the warmth and resilience of our people—like those from Lower Pomeroon and Upper Pomeroon—should reflect in the way we nurture and support one another in healthcare. Every day, I am reminded of the strength of our diaspora, and how we carry a piece of Guyana with us no matter where we go, whether it’s a local gathering or a virtual meet-up across the world.
As I continue my journey in nursing, I remain committed to advocating for our community's health and well-being.
