Greetings! I'm Kelly Jacobus, a dedicated teacher residing on the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically at 85 Short Cut Henrietta in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up in this vibrant area, I’ve been deeply inspired by the lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Guyana. It’s a place where the mighty Pomeroon River flows, and the warmth of the community reminds me daily of the values we hold dear: respect, love, and unity.
As an educator, my passion lies in nurturing the minds of our youth and instilling a sense of pride in our Guyanese identity. I often draw upon the flavors of our local cuisine, from pepperpot to fresh catch from the river, to engage my students in lessons about our history and traditions. I believe that sharing stories from places like Lower Pom River and St. Monica allows the next generation to appreciate their roots and encourages a connection with our diaspora communities spread across the globe.
Beyond the classroom, I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it’s exploring the lush greenery of our backyard or feeding the wild manatees that grace our rivers. I’m proud of my Guyanese heritage, and I strive to help my students understand the importance of caring for our environment and each other. Together, we can celebrate our home, no matter where life takes us!
