Hello! I’m Bhamenee Persaud, a dedicated teacher based in the Essequibo Coast, specifically the vibrant Lima Housing Scheme in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Education is my passion, and I believe in nurturing the minds of our youth to help them navigate the rich cultural landscape of Guyana. From the iconic River Massarie Island to the flavorful culinary delights like pepperpot and roti, my aim is to instill a love for our heritage in every student.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been surrounded by the diverse sounds of our communities, the warmth of our people, and the beauty of our lush landscapes. Whether it's celebrating Mashramani with friends or enjoying a Saturday cook-up, these moments remind me of the importance of sharing our culture, especially with the diaspora. It’s heartwarming to connect with others who share the same pride in our roots, even if sometimes the names and places get a little butchered in conversation!
In my classroom, I strive to create an environment where students can explore their identity and understand the significance of our lands, like Esequibo, and the stories that shape us all. I look forward to inspiring the next generation to cherish and celebrate our unique Guyanese identity while fostering a sense of belonging and unity among them.
