Hello! I’m Andeeda Jack, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, specifically the vibrant community of Dry Shore in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Nestled between the lush greens and flowing rivers, this region is my home, where the scent of fresh cassava bread and the sound of the cricket bat echo through the streets. I cherish our rich heritage, from the flavors of pepper pot on special occasions to the rhythms of chutney music that bring us together during festivals. My heart beats for Guyana, and I believe in the potential of our people, even as we navigate the challenges of migration and community dynamics.
Having traveled back and forth, I often reflect on the warmth and spirit of our diaspora. Many of us have spread our wings in search of better opportunities, leaving behind a land that holds both promise and struggle. As we converse about the changes in our society, I recognize the need for a collective mindset shift, embracing consideration and respect for one another. The future of Guyana lies in the hands of its people, and it is our duty to restore order and care for one another, even from afar.
