Hello! My name is Andrea Stoll, and I am proud to call Pomeroon-Supenaam, specifically Pom River GT, home. Growing up in this vibrant region has given me a deep appreciation for the rich cultural mosaic that is Guyana. From savoring the delightful spices of our diverse cuisine—like mouthwatering curry and pepperpot—to spending afternoons by the stunning Kaieteur Falls, I cherish the experiences that connect me to my roots and community.
As a resident of Guyana, I understand the unique blend of Afro-Guyanese and Indo-Guyanese cultures, alongside the influences of our indigenous peoples and other communities. This blend is reflected not only in our food but also in our festivals, music, and daily interactions. My experiences shaped my view of the world, especially as I engage with the Guyanese diaspora in places like Little Guyana in Queens and Brooklyn. I celebrate our shared heritage while recognizing the beautiful differences that make us who we are.
Through my journey, I hope to foster a sense of unity and understanding among Guyanese people near and far. While we face challenges at home, like the need for greater community consideration and a shift in mindset, I remain hopeful.
