Welcome! I’m Anthony Obermuller, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, living along the scenic 102 Old Road in Devonshire. My roots run deep in the rich soil of Guyana, a country where the diverse cultures of Indigenous peoples, Afro-Guyanese, Indo-Guyanese, and others blend to create a unique identity that is often overlooked by the outside world. While some debate our Caribbean status, I firmly believe in celebrating our South American heritage, with our vibrant traditions and lush landscapes, from the lush Pomeroon River to the stunning waterfalls of Kaieteur.
My passion lies in sharing the warmth of Guyanese culture, especially through our delectable cuisine. Whether it’s savoring a plate of pepperpot during Christmas or enjoying a quiet evening with a bowl of cook-up rice, food is at the heart of our gatherings. I cherish the moments spent with family and friends, reminiscing about home and the heartwarming festivities that bring us together, such as Phagwah and Mashramani.
As a member of the diaspora community, my connection to Guyana remains strong, and I strive to promote our nation’s beauty and complexity.
