Greetings! My name is Antonio Persaud, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled along the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, my life here is enriched by the vibrant culture that Guyana embodies. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our local cuisine, particularly the mouthwatering pepperpot and the aromatic dishes that celebrate our diverse heritage. Our festivals, which bring together the rich traditions of our Indigenous, Afro-Guyanese, and Indo-Guyanese cultures, remind me of the beauty of unity in diversity. I believe that no matter where we go, the essence of our homeland remains with us, as seen in the diaspora that cherishes our shared memories and the distinct flavors of home.
I have a commitment to not just my craft but also to the people of Guyana. I firmly believe in the importance of community and connection, whether it’s through a friendly chat at the local market or sharing stories about our beloved landmarks such as the Kaieteur Falls. For me, being Guyanese is about celebrating our resilience and the warmth of our people, and I carry that spirit with me in every project I undertake.
