Hello! I'm Ashada Dos Santos, a proud resident of the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically from 96 Chinese Lock Street in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture, from the tantalizing flavors of pepperpot and roti to the rhythmic beats of chutney music that echoes during our lively festivals. Despite the challenges we face as a nation, I believe in the resilience and potential of our people to create meaningful change.
While it’s easy to point out the shortcomings in our society, such as inadequate social services and rampant corruption, I hold steadfast to the belief that improvement starts at the grassroots level. I often reflect on our collective responsibility to advocate for better infrastructure and equitable treatment for all citizens, rather than waiting for change to come from above. My experiences have shown me that we must actively engage in building a brighter future, one that prioritizes the needs of our communities over political agendas.
As a part of the Guyanese diaspora, I remain connected to my roots, cherishing the bonds with family and friends both near and far. I am passionate about fostering a sense of unity within our communities, whether it’s through sharing stories, promoting local entrepreneurship, or simply enjoying a good meal together. I envision a Guyana where we cherish our environment, uplift one another, and take pride in the beauty of our homeland.
