Hello! My name is Athanasius Williams, and I proudly call Bank Essequibo A14 Block AA in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a miner, I spend my days working to uncover the natural riches of our land, all while embracing the vibrant culture that surrounds me. From the lush rainforests to the flowing rivers, the beauty of Guyana is ever-present, and it inspires me to contribute to our community and economy.
Life in Guyana is a unique blend of traditions and influences, where English is often mixed with Creole. We celebrate our rich heritage through our food, music, and festivals. Whether it's enjoying a plate of pepperpot during Christmas or joining in the revelry of Mashramani, I cherish these moments that connect us all. I also have a deep appreciation for the diaspora community, as many of our people, like those living in the United States, carry a piece of Guyana with them wherever they go.
When I’m not at work, you can find me sharing stories with friends and family about our homeland’s hidden gems or enjoying a good soca tune that reminds me of the lively gatherings we have.
