Greetings! I’m Shindel James, a proud miner hailing from the beautiful Coast 37 Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the rich cultural heritage of Guyana, I embrace my Indo-Guyanese heritage and the traditions passed down through generations. Just like many of my ancestors, who were brought here by the British, I hold dear the customs and flavors that shape our identity. There’s nothing quite like a plate of roti with curry—a taste of home that I carry with me, no matter where I go.
In my work as a miner, I spend my days exploring the natural wealth of our land, but beyond the job, I am passionate about sharing the stories of Guyana with the world. I often reminisce about the vibrant markets filled with fresh produce and the sounds of laughter echoing through the streets. Whether it's a gathering of friends around a pot of pepperpot or a celebration of our diverse festivals, these moments reflect the warmth and resilience of our people. As I navigate the challenges and opportunities life presents, my heart remains tethered to my homeland and its incredible spirit.
