Greetings! I’m Basdai Persaud, a proud resident of the picturesque Essequibo Coast, particularly from Golden Fleece Estate in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant region has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, from the lush landscapes that echo our history to the warm camaraderie of our villages. I often reminisce about the aroma of pepperpot simmering on Christmas morning and the joyful sounds of tassa music that fill the air during our local festivals.
Having traveled to various parts of the world, I can confidently say that nothing compares to the unique spirit of Guyana. While I've had the opportunity to visit over 60 countries, it's the people back home who truly make our country remarkable. There’s a sense of community here that resonates deeply, whether it's at the local markets or during lively celebrations. As I've watched our diaspora grow around the globe, I find joy in connecting with fellow Guyanese and sharing our stories, which often recount the beauty of our native Essequibo, the deliciousness of our cook-up rice, and the vibrant culture that binds us all, no matter where we are.
