Hello! I’m Cathlene Benjamin, a dedicated farmer residing on the beautiful Island in Barima-Waini. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich agricultural heritage. From cultivating bountiful crops to participating in local markets, I find joy in contributing to the food that brings our people together. I believe that there’s nothing quite like the heavenly taste of home-cooked Guyanese dishes, each infused with the flavors of our diverse cultures.
Living in Barima-Waini, I embrace the simpler yet fulfilling life, though I acknowledge some challenges we face. The perspective that Georgetown is a disaster can sometimes overshadow the resilience and warmth of our people here. I believe that by exploring different parts of our beautiful country, one can truly discover the spirit of community that thrives beyond the city. Despite various outdated practices and customer service hurdles, there’s a unique camaraderie that we share, especially among the diaspora who carry our culture proudly wherever they go.
