Greetings! My name is Sunray Benjamin, and I hail from the vibrant community of Karawab in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a chainsaw operator, I engage in the essential work of forestry that is deeply rooted in our local economy and culture. When I’m not out in the lush green expanse of our beautiful Essequibo region, you can find me sharing stories and experiences that highlight the uniqueness of Guyanese life.
Growing up surrounded by the rich flavors of our cuisine, I have a profound appreciation for traditional dishes like curried goat and hot paratha. Whether it's enjoying a plate of dhal and rice or indulging in the famous Pom River food dip that brings back childhood memories, food is a central part of our culture. I love connecting with the diaspora community and hearing about their experiences and celebrations, whether it’s through reminiscing about our beloved landmarks or discussing the importance of Caricom, which ties us closer to our Caribbean neighbors.
