Hello! I’m Benjamin Walcott, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo, nestled in the heart of St. Lawrence on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich heritage. From the stunning Essequibo River, where I spent countless afternoons fishing with family, to the bustling markets filled with the aromas of our beloved pepper pot, my heart is firmly rooted in this beautiful land.
As a passionate advocate for our local traditions, I take pride in sharing the flavors of Guyana with others, whether it’s through cooking up a traditional meal or recounting stories of our diverse communities. I often reminisce about the laughter shared around the dining table, where dishes like pepper pot bring us all together, reminding me of the warmth of our people. I believe that our culture, with its blend of indigenous, African, and Indian influences, is what sets us apart and makes us unique.
Connecting with fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora, brings me immense joy. I cherish the moments spent reminiscing about our homeland, whether it’s our pronunciation quirks or the beautiful locations like River Para Island and Kaieteur Falls that hold a special place in our hearts.
