Greetings! My name is Tiffany Walcott, and I proudly call Pomeroon, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of this area has shaped my perspectives and values. Pomeroon is renowned for its beautiful rivers and rich agricultural traditions, from the sweet taste of ripe mangoes to the hearty cassava bread we enjoy. I believe in the importance of community, where neighbors come together to share stories, meals, and a deep-rooted connection to our land.
As a resident of this unique country, I cherish the diverse influences that make Guyana special—from our rich Amerindian heritage to the Caribbean and South American flavors that coexist in our culinary delights. My heart is often warmed by the aroma of cook-up rice and the vibrant colors of our national dish, pepperpot. I also take pride in promoting the lesser-known gems of Guyana, like the Essequibo Islands, where serene beauty meets adventure—places that many overlook but are truly breathtaking.
Though I have witnessed the challenges Guyana faces, including the need for improved infrastructure and social services, I remain optimistic. The camaraderie among our diaspora, who share a love for our homeland and advocate for its betterment, fuels my passion. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
