Hello and welcome! My name is Susannah Walcott, and I proudly call Windsor Castle, located on the beautiful Essequibo Coast in Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. Growing up here has allowed me to immerse myself in the vibrant tapestry of Guyanese culture, where you can find a Church, a Mosque, and a Hindu Temple on the same street, embodying the rich diversity and tolerance that my country is known for. I cherish the warmth and hospitality of our communities, whether we’re sharing a plate of pepperpot or indulging in a sweet treat of metemgee. Each meal tells a story, a connection to our heritage that binds us together, no matter our background.
Living in Guyana, I’m fortunate to be surrounded by stunning natural beauty, from the mighty Essequibo River to the lush rainforests teeming with wildlife. Whether I’m enjoying a peaceful day at the riverbank or engaging in lively conversations about our diverse cultural identity, I find immense joy in my surroundings. I also have a deep appreciation for our music and arts, which reflect the distinct influences of our ethnic groups. The rhythms of chutney and calypso resonate with me, serving as a reminder of our shared history and the unique blend of cultures that thrive here.
