Hello! I’m Bentley George, a proud miner hailing from the Essequibo Coast, specifically the 72 Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I've always felt a deep connection to my roots. From the vibrant local markets filled with fresh fruits like pommecythere and cassava to the rich flavors of our beloved pepperpot and curry, my cultural heritage is a huge part of who I am. I cherish the stories passed down through generations, especially those that celebrate our diverse communities and their resilience.
As one of many Guyanese now living abroad while staying connected to home, I understand the challenges and triumphs we face. I often reminisce about the camaraderie shared during community events, whether it’s a lively cricket match or a festive mashramani celebration. Even though I’m miles away, the essence of Essequibo and the warmth of our people keep me grounded. We may have left the land of our birth, but the spirit of Guyana—our history, struggles, and hopes—thrives in our hearts.
