Hello! I’m Bhagwatie Persaud, a proud resident of E½ Sans Souci Wakenaam in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Living in Wakenaam, we often reminisce about our roots, and I can’t help but feel a deep connection to the stories of our ancestors who cultivated this land.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I am passionate about keeping our rich heritage alive, whether it’s through sharing traditional recipes or encouraging the next generation to explore our stunning landmarks, from the majestic Kaieteur Falls to the bustling streets of Georgetown. I often hear comments like, "Mek sure you geh da winter jacket bro, it's colddddddd!" and it reminds me of the warmth of our people, especially when we gather to celebrate festivals like Mashramani or Diwali. The bond we share, even from afar, brings a smile to my face.
