Hello! I’m Bibi Khan, a proud resident of Pomeroon in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Growing up here has given me a deep appreciation for our vibrant culture, from the lush landscapes that cradle our rivers to the rich culinary heritage that unites our communities. Whether it’s enjoying a fresh roti (though I prefer to call it by its proper name and not a 'rag'!) with a spicy curry or indulging in a sweet pepper pot during the holidays, each dish tells a story of our diverse influences—from the indigenous peoples to the Indian, African, and Amerindian traditions that shape our identity.
As someone who is deeply connected to the land, I love sharing the wonders of Pomeroon with those both near and far. The whispers of the Pomeroon River and the warmth of our community are irreplaceable, evoking memories of places like St. Chad's Mission and lesser-known settlements like Yacouri. I cherish the connections forged with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, who often reminisce about home, whether in Florida or London. Their stories remind me of how our roots can flourish anywhere in the world.
