Hello! I’m Bibi Khan, a proud resident of Essequibo's 1619 Block 8 in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up along the banks of the Pomeroon River, I cherish the vibrant culture that flows through our communities. From the sweet aroma of cook-up rice wafting through the air to the rhythmic beats of our local folk music during village celebrations, life here is a delightful blend of tradition and connection.
My roots run deep in this land, where stories of the past intertwine with the present. I have fond memories of gathering with family and friends at La Bonne Mère, sharing hearty meals of pepperpot and cassava bread, while the sun sets over the river. Whether it's a simple catch-up with neighbors or a festive gathering, the warmth of community is what keeps us connected, no matter where life takes us.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I carry a piece of Essequibo with me wherever I go, celebrating our culture while connecting with fellow Guyanese around the world.
