As a resident of the Pomeroon-Supenaam area, I have a deep appreciation for the unique blend of influences that shape our community, where Indo-Guyanese, Afro-Guyanese, and Indigenous traditions coexist harmoniously. I often find myself reflecting on the sentiments shared by many in our diaspora, who resonate with the notion that Guyana and its people, much like those from Ghana, share a connection that transcends continents. Just as Black Sherif recently celebrated our women, I take pride in the strength and resilience of the women in my life and community.
