Greetings! My name is Bibi Mohammed, and I proudly call Demerara 5 Uitkomst Canal No. 1 my home. Growing up in the lush landscapes of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I have always found joy in the vibrant culture and rich traditions of my beloved Guyana. Whether it’s sharing a plate of spicy pepperpot or gathering with friends to enjoy the sweet aroma of cook-up rice, food has always been a centerpiece of our community, strengthening our bonds and celebrating our diverse heritage.
My roots run deep in this beautiful land, with connections to the Pomeroon River and the serene banks of the Arapiako. As someone who cherishes the stories of our elders, I hold dear the tales of our ancestors who paved the way for us today. The rhythmic sounds of the river, the laughter of children playing outside, and the warmth of our people remind me daily of what it means to be Guyanese. It is this spirit that drives me to engage with fellow diaspora members, sharing our experiences and keeping our culture alive, whether in Trinidad or elsewhere around the globe.
As a proud resident of Guyana, I believe in the importance of community and togetherness. I am always open to connecting with others who share a love for our homeland. Whether you are in Guyana or part of the diaspora, feel free to reach out and share your stories—after all, it’s the connections we forge that keep our heritage alive and thriving!
